Welcome to Dickinson Elementary School, home of the Cardinals!! We serve approximately 520 students in kindergarten through 4th grade. Built in 1957, Dickinson is proudly known as the neighborhood elementary school in De Pere. Our mission statement continues to serve as the foundation of our beliefs and approach to educating our kids:
Dickinson is a learning place
where we strive to touch our dreams;
working, growing and supporting each other
and being part of a team!
Only 2 busses serve our building, meaning a majority of our students either walk in or are dropped off. This makes for a unique educational setting that is energetic and family-based, with many community members bringing our campus to life on a daily basis. We celebrate the diversity that exists within our community. What unites us all, among other things, is our care for all of our children.
Our 26 classroom teachers, intervention staff, special educators, specialist teachers, and all support educators are passionate about creating great people and lifelong learners. We are a PBIS school that weaves in concepts from Conscious Discipline, TRIBES, and other resources. This means that we believe strongly in shaping character directly and indirectly. Academically, we are focused on continuously improving our learning culture, developing our questioning and discussion techniques, and using assessment in instruction. Our mission is supported by a strong PTO that balances fun and fundraising through amazing efforts and engaging events. Our staff and parent group annually articulate our school vision and what we should strive to achieve:
Dickinson Elementary is a school where:
We, Dickinson staff and families, will create a warm and welcoming environment for all.
We believe that and will act like all of our students can and will learn.
We will learn about, promote, and employ a growth mindset in our daily tasks.
We will honor our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports core values of Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Caring .
We will collaborate with each other so all are successful .
We believe that things are “AOK” when all Dickinson students are “All Our Kids.”
We will value academic, social, emotional, and behavioral progress and learning.
We will engage in effective data analysis to inform school improvement.
We will hold each other to high expectations.
On a personal note…
I grew up in Green Bay and am a proud alum of Green Bay East High School. I then graduated from St. Norbert College in 2004 and started my career in education as a 3rd grader teacher at Heritage Elementary right here in De Pere. After 8 years of classroom experience, I was drawn to the Dean of Students position at Heritage and earned my Masters in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University. I was fortunate enough to gain a year of experience at De Pere Middle School as the Vice Principal and I still utilize my experiences there to help drive what we do today to prepare our elementary scholars. I have been honored to serve as the Principal at Dickinson since 2015. In my personal life, I love being an active father and husband, and enjoy time cooking, golfing, being outdoors, or spending time with family. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve this exceptional learning community, and look forward to working with you.
